Will Venable in 2010? Thoughts?

Likely not useful outside of NL-only or insanely deep leagues. He may get everyday AB's though I suppose. Just looking at his numbers and reading what Shandler writes about him in the Forecaster he seems to project as a low average power hitter, and considering he plays half his games in hell... I mean PETCO, his power potential is only so good.

I'd only look at him in deep NL only leagues, and as a 5th outfielder at that. I'm not drafting him either, but he'll be on my watch list.

If the friars move Kouzmanoff, it would help his value as he will see more playing time with Headley moving to 3b.

Venable is a platoon bat, that can't hit lefties (career .289 SLG vslh) , and come to think of it can't hit righties all that well either.

He is a 4th/5th outfielder with Headley, Blanks, Gwynn and who ever Hoyer brings in, all are ahead of him on the depth chart.

edit: and has already been mentioned, he plays in hitters hell.

His BB/K was teh suxor in '09, he doesn't run anymore, and the only thing he did interesting last year was hit 24 HRs.
Also, he's already 27.
