Is this too much to offer?

Postby petachi » Fri Jan 01, 2010 12:35 pm

14 team 5x5 roto league (1b,2b,ss,3b,of,of,of,c,ut + pitchers) - draft format - 7 keepers

I was offered Arod for Lind and Ichiro but even though I do believe Arod will be just fine this year I thought it was a bit of a steep price.

I countered with Ichiro, Lind and Beckett for Arod and Halladay. My thinking is that the mderate to small difference in the initial trade is made up for plenty if I can trade Beckett for Halladay. It's not so much I think Beckett is bad but that I like Halladay and his move to the NL I believe will make his end stats even better.

Anyhow, even though I offered the trade and I don't think it hurts my team is this too much to offer? Would others of you offer as much?

I have an OF right now of Bay, Ichiro, and Lind with McLouth also being available to keep if I needed to.

I have no current 3B and would really like to have it filled via trade before the draft because I think that position will be much weaker in the draft than OF.

thanks

Arod > Lind
Halladay > Beckett
Ichiro - well I'd trade him to make the deal

I like the deal alot more if McLouth wasn't your 7th keeper, but NO I don't think thats too much for A Rod. Adding Halladay probably nixes the deal for the other guy, but I'd probably take the origional offer to get a top 4 or 5 player.Almost anytime you can add a 1st rounder w/o giving up a 2nd rounder seems like a good deal. I have a tough time dealing for a 1st rounder with 2 or 3 good parts anymore it seems

A-Rod is not a top 4 or 5 player, he's a top 2 player. And if he does that deal with your Lind, Ichiban, and Beckett for his A-Rod and Halladay, you might run away with the division. Halladay will absolutely dominate in the NL, not to mention having the 2nd best offense in the MLB behind him, he will rack up the wins. A-Rod will go back to being A-Rod now that he's completely healthy. Expect the AVG, HRs, and RBIs all to increase, as well as the SBs. With depth lacking at 3B, if he declines your second offer, do the original deal anyway.

Do you just all keep 7 guys and then start the draft after that, or do you lose picks depending on where keepers were drafted. If you all just keep 7 guys and the position drafted doesn't matter, I'd even do the first trade.

A Rod + McClouth > Lind + Ichiro

Also, its much easier to find another good outfielder than a good 3B. It seems that most experts are saying 3B is a somewhat scarce position this year.

I would do the original deal and not worry about countering with halladay because there is no way the other owner does that. If he does that's awesome but I just dont see it. ARod is well ARod and is guaranteed to get the numbers. I would just do the original deal.

please help
