Marlon Byrd Signs with the Cubs

Many of us expected Byrd to sign with the Cubs. After Cameron signed with the Red Sox, it wasn't as if the Cubs were left with many options in free agency. It's not a great signing, but it's a signing they needed. At 3/15, it wasn't as if the Cubs broke the bank on him and bid against themselves.

It's a good signing. Nothing spectacular, but I didn't see them doing anything outlandish this off season.

Unless this is a precursor to a Soriano trade, color me uninterested

The only dimwit who would consider Soriano + has some money is Sabean.
Maybe the Cubs could get Zito in return, Silva and Zito would make an awesome 1-2 punch ;-7

Soriano: 90mil/5 years
Zito: 83mil/4 years (includes 7mil X-I buyout of 2014)

Git 'er done Hendry!

The hilarious part is that the Cubs might actually win out on that trade. :,-( Soriano was worth -0.7 WAR last year, while Zito was worth 2.2.

As soon as Soriano becomes a Giant he'll magically get healthy. :-b
