first baseball sig

Postby Metroid » Thu Dec 31, 2009 4:53 pm

Finally got around to making my first baseball sig. I found an unfilled request for Matt Cain so I made one of him. I had trouble finding a decent render so it's kind of meh. And making baseball sigs is a little more difficult than football sigs. Unlike football sigs where the players have facemasks that hide their faces, you can see the baseball players faces very well, it's tough to get good detail...at least it is for me. :-B Cropping also takes a lot longer.

Anyway what do you guys think? :-?

Looks good Met ;-D

My only real criticism is the color is a little bland, which I think is odd for you because your other sigs are always very colorful.

Thanks R&C. Yeah it is kinda muted huh? I've been having a problem with that lately. I think it's because I've been trying to add more detail and different textured layers.

This version has a little more color but the background is more washed out. Is it better though? :-?

I also just busted out this Scarlett sig I'm wearing....odd that it's got the same color scheme as that last Cain sig. They're both kinda Christmasy...I must have Christmas on the brain still. :-b

Yeah, I think I like the second better, though I kinda like the background behind Cain in the first. Any way you could make the Cain render a little less washed out?

I agree it could some more color, but you usually do so no big deal. Welcome to the baseball side. ;-D

i actually dont mind the lack of color in it at all. i actually like the color. my critique is the lighting on cain's face. (i guess this could be interpreted as color to some). if you added some lighting effects to the player himself, i think it would solve the whole "bland" look.

still, very nice imo. ;-D
