any chance you can make some trades giving draft picks for improved keepers or something? thats a very weak group to start the draft with. I play in 5 14 team leagues where we keep 7 & thats right down there with the weakest set of keepers in any of the leagues. There are always teams with more than 7 good 1's, we allow teams to trade draft picks & this team can be vastly improved with some young talent. I'd certainly look to the future if your league doesn't have some provision where all the top stars are back in the draft every year. More info please

Welcome to the Cafe ;-D Lets see if we can help ya a bit, you my friend have your work cut for you

C - Kurt Suzuki - even in a 14 team league he's not a keeper :-t
1B - Jorge Cantu - not who I'd like to have as my 1bman, but he has value ;-D
3B/SS - Gordon Beckham - ;-D
SS - Ryan Theriot - aside from a job and a bit of speed, you can toss him back :-t
OF - Vladimir Guerrero - if you're lucky, he starts hot and you can trade him ;-D
OF - Cody Ross - he and McLouth are your best hitters ;-D
OF - Nate McClouth - ;-D
P - Johnny Cueto - youth on his side, maybe a nice trade piece ;-D
P - Chad Billingsly - he has to have a better 2010 ;-D
P - Jake Peavy - along with Bills ;-D
P - Joba Chamberlin - meh, better in the pen right now :-t
P - J.A. Happ[/quote] - ditto Cueto ;-D

Well that gets it to 9, I'm tossing back Cantu 'cause 1st is pretty deep & Vlad 'cause he's old and you could easily get these two back in the draft.

That leaves you with:
3B/SS - Gordon Beckham
OF - Cody Ross
OF - Nate McClouth
P - Johnny Cueto
P - Chad Billingsly
P - Jake Peavy
P - J.A. Happ

with any luck your pitching will pan out and you can add some offense thru the draft.

good luck

Thanks.

I have a weak team and finished in last place this past season. Problem is, I also get last draft choice this year as they set up a new drafting system in which they just assume that everyone at the bottom of the league is tanking intentionally so they give them a low draft choice. So I have more work on my hands than originally thought. :-/ Oh well, it will make a good rags to riches story when I start placing in a few years. Thanks again

That is stupid, sounds like that's how they built up their own top teams - they did it, so they'll assume you will too, can't have that can we. :^

That rule is ridiculous. A good commish tries to create parity, that goes the other way. I like

C - Kurt Suzuki
1B - Jorge Cantu
3B/SS - Gordon Beckham
OF - Vladimir Guerrero
OF - Nate McClouth
P - Chad Billingsley
P - Jake Peavy

Good luck.

I know, it's ridiculous. I've never been in a single league that has handicapped a team for finishing in last place. I'm thinking about leaving, it's becoming a lost cause as from what you can see from my keepers. Part of me though wants to work through this and win the league to shove it in their faces. :-D Long road ahead though.

it looks to me like a 2 or 3 year plan, just gotta wonder if its worth all that, especially if the league has some suspect rules to begin with
