PS3 Games...any recommendations?

Postby pokerplaya » Wed Dec 30, 2009 7:29 pm

Just got a PS3 for Christmas...asked for a Blu Ray, got both :-) .

Games I got...

Batman: AA
MLB 09: The Show
Infamous
Bioshock
MGS 4

Seems like a pretty good group of games...any "must have" gems that I'm missing and should give a look? ;-D

CoD: MW2, I'm not a big fan of shooting games, but that game turned me into one.

Fallout 3 is a really good game. It's like a 3rd person shooter/RPG

I've been playing Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on my spare time for the last couple of months and it's quite habit-forming. Even I found the campaign mode to be addicting and better yet, if you're playing co-op and multiplayer.

I'm also playing Assassin's Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2, but both are on Xbox 360 (I prefer 360 over PS3). If you're a soccer fan or have some morbid interest in the game, get FIFA 10. It's surely the best soccer game with the gameplay being light years better than previous games and I'd say it's the best sports game to date. I'm enjoying getting tiny Colchester United promoted to the Premier League. ;-D

I got a bundle pack PS3 over the holidays that came with Uncharted. I've never been one that plays a lot of these types of games, mostly just sports. I must say though that I am really enjoying it. It also came with Killzone 2 and inFamous. Killzone 2 is really intense and not my style, but the brother in law loves. I'm not a big fan of the online shootout fests, like COD. Probably because I suck at it thoug. Haven't tried inFamous yet, but from what I've seen it looks really cool.

Is it that much better than Fifa 09? I loved Fifa 09. The only thing I hated about it was getting schooled online by 15 year olds.

Oh yes, much improved around the board. You have much better control over your dribbling, which makes it more fluid and natural to skip by defenders. The physics and AI are better than past years and overall, it just looks and feels more realistic. The Virtual Pro mode is nice (put yourself as an in-game player) and you can unlock a number of accomplishments and skills from it. There's also an improved Live Season mode to keep current with injuries, transfers, etc. Manager mode is also deeper, so that you can't just keep buying players without knowing your team's specific needs.

A few things to nitpick here: there is no Russian Premier League in this game. From what I understand, with PC/Xbox/PS2, it's possible to get an upgrade for the Russian league to be incorporated for the game, but not on 360 or PS3. That's a bummer because the Russian league is emerging as one of the tops in Europe, which doesn't give a complete experience on Champions League play. Unfortunately, live season isn't free. All in all, it's a fantastic game.

I was actually considering picking up Uncharted 2, reviews have said it's a great game. Has anyone played Uncharted Drakes Fortune? Should I play that first?

I'm playing it now. I'm really enjoying it so far. This is my first time with this kind of game as I use to only play sports games. It came with my bundle pack and it keeps me up much later than I would normally want. I keep saying "only 1 more level". :-b
