I feel this will get lost in my other post so I am reposting it.
I have greatly valued everyone's help with this difficult trade for me. There are two new developments. I am now being offered Kendry Morales and Evan Longoria for Justin Upton and Pablo Sandoval. Also, it was just announced that Sandoval is moving to 1st base effective immediately. The Giants just signed Juan Uribe and Mark Derosa. Although I love Upton as much as everyone here and desperately want to keep him, I am super concerned with not having a 3rd Basemen after next season worth keeping. There are no promising prospects at 3rd base with the exception of Brett Wallace and Pedro Alvarez, both who surely won't stay at 3rd base. It would be nice having one of the best at 3rd base locked up. Is Kendry Morales enough to convince me that I should accept this trade? Especially with Sandoval now being moved to 1st. Thanks again.
My current Keepers: Mauer Votto Hanley Sandoval Kemp Upton Kershaw
Does your league use corner infield position for Votto & Morales? Guess I wouldn't worry about your 2011 3rd base position just yet, but if you like Longoria much better than Upton its certainly a very even trade. I like the guys you have; & I tend to keep the 1's I drafted or acquired rather than trade them in a dead even deal. Maybe you trade Mauer for Wright or something in season & you keep Upton; maybe Pablo keeps 3rd base eligibility somehow.

I'd make that deal. I'd much rather secure a stud 3rd baseman first over a stud outfielder. Do it. Lock up quite possibly the best slugging 3rd baseman for years to come. Much easier to fill an outfield slot than trying to land someone who would come even remotley close to the production that Longoria will provide.
No, no, no. That's a very lopsided 2 for 1 in favor of Upton and Sandoval as far as I'm concerned. Sandoval is in the same tier as Longoria with the home run difference being offset by a huge batting average difference. Not a chance, IMO.

No way. Longoria as a 3rd baseman is a late 1st/early 2nd rounder. Sandoval shouldn't be picked earlier than the 5th round as a first baseman. If Sandoval wasn't moved off 3rd, I wouldn't do the deal, but really the key here is the positions.
He's trading a stud outfielder and a good first baseman for a stud third baseman and a good first baseman. It's a clear upgrade.

No, I still think Sandoval even at 1B is a lot more talented than Kendry, plus he's younger with more upside. Before making this deal, I'd try to get Pedro Alvarez or another elite 3B prospect (although he's the best for power output) and then just move what you have in Sandoval to first base next year while keeping the stud Upton.
