Just traded for Beckham in a keeper- too much?

Postby grandpa » Wed Dec 23, 2009 9:57 pm

Just traded Ich and my 1st first round pick (I had 2) for Beckham- I had too many OF keepers as I made another off season trade earlier where I sent AGonz and got Holliday, Adam Jones, and a 1st. This is a head to head total points keeper (keep 7 plus one rookie and two minors) essentially the 1st round pick is an 8th rounder. Here is my roster now pre-draft:

VMart
Beckham
ARam
Sizemore
Kemp
Holliday
Adam Jones
Johan
Andrus as my rookie at SS

Did I pay too much for Beckham? I think, with his move to 2nd, he's gonna be a first or second rounder for years to come in redrafts.

I don't know. I am kind of up in the air on this one. At first read, I thought you gave up too much. But, then looking at your roster and seeing that you have two first round picks makes me kinda like this deal. The only thing is Ichiro is so consistent and you don't really know what you are going to get from Beckham. But, I like your keepers and you didn't need Ichiro so I say its a nice deal for you.

please help

I don't hate the deal. Ichiro is fine to give up and I can see how the other owner would want more than just him for Beckham but the 1st round pick might be a little high. I am not sure I see Beckham as a future first rounder but a definite top 50 guy. If you did over pay, you did so only by a little and you should have a solid 2B for years to come.

Did you pay too much for a relatively unproven player with a limited track record? I think so. Just remember the Alex Gordon's out there......on the other hand....Do you really NEED Suzuki? No. While I do believe you overpaid, the trade works for your team with the players you have/are keeping. A decent trade.
