Someone in my league has offered me AGon and Carp for Lincecum and a couple of minor leaguers. Is this the best offer fo rhim yet and should I even consider trading him?
Back when I first saw this trade (in another thread, I believe) I thought that you should only go for an offer that completely wows you. Lincecum, is of course, unbelievable, especially in a keeper league. I started considering the rest of the trades after you seemed to really want to move him. While this newest offer is better than the rest and probably fair, it still doesn't completely wow me. If you really want to trade Lincecum, I say this is the deal to make. Personally, I wouldn't, but only because he may well be irreplaceable in a keeper league. The deal that you've helped me with it in some ways shows just that. I'm not a big fan of Crawford, but I've found it incredibly difficult to deal for 1st round talent after being an expansion team 2 years ago.
Now, I know I'm changing my tune, but if I were you I'd do this: Only make a trade if it involves you getting back someone that wows you and is close to or has the nearly realized upside of a top round talent. Adrian Gonzalez can certainly be that guy, espeically if he's traded out of Petco, but it's up to you to decide. I'm just not a huge believer in Carpenter... maybe you could then ship him to the other guy for Nolasco and Cabrera.

I would do this deal. A-Gonz's road splits are absurd, and I'd be absolutely shocked if he's not on another team, be it Boston or another bidder, before the ASB. Carp is so good when healthy, and while it's likely he'll see a DL stint at somepoint this year, I think he can give you 170+ innings. All that said, I'd probably do the deal, keep your fingers crossed Carp has a healthy first month to alleviate other owners concerns about health, and then peddle him for a younger guy and a lotto ticket type flyer with said younger starter. Good luck.
I'd say no to the other offers and seriously consider Gonzalez/Carpenter for Lincecum. I'm not really a Carpenter fan, FWIW, but that might be able to tip the scales a bit.
so whats the deal with the salaries, they weren't in the initial post? I take it your guys have $ connected too? Is there a cap you'd be trying to stay under? Not trying to beat a dead horse, but you seem to be the only 1 who only wants a fair trade for Linc. I think you need to be greedier offering Linc; and need to put all the important info regarding the players salaries if you want the best help
Lincecum, Thomas Neal(Minor leaguer) and Ben Revere(Minor Leaguer)
I would be losing 650,000 in salary but gaining 16.3 million with AGon and Carp. This would put me at about at 139,000,000 with 36 million to use on FA bidding. And if you read my other post, I would be gaining Manny's contract too if I do that deal too leaving me with approx only 10,000,000 left to bid on 6 or 7 FA's to fill my roster. Any opinions on what to do?
I don't see why you are giving up prospects in this trade. You are trading possibly the most valuable player in the league for a 2nd tier 1st Basemen and an ace nonetheless, but prone to injury. If you are looking to add a position player I would be demanding a player at the top of his position. In order to do this carpenter/lincecum trade I would have to be wowed with prospects to go along with it. And I mean a Jayson Hayward or Mike Stanton or Jesus Montero caliber prospect.
