The Cardinals have offered free agent left fielder Matt Holliday an eight-year contract worth close to $130 million, according to a published report.

The Mets made an offer to Bay last week, believed to be for four years, $65 million. The Yankees are not believed to have made an offer.

The report says Bay does have a five-year offer on the table.

That is a lot, but it is probably not really overpaying. I hate the length though.

i really don't see anyways that deal gets topped, especially with the red sox out of the running now. the cards probably went higher than they had to.

I keep hearing (ever since spring training in fact) that Holliday and his dad REALLY want him to play for the Yankees.

I think if the Yankees match St Louis' dollar amount, the Cardinals will be SOL. (In my professional opinion, of course) :-b
