Who's the best keeper SP?

Postby bongovt » Mon Dec 14, 2009 1:35 pm

I got all of these guys as FA's so their cost is the same (a pick starting from the last rd of the draft)...Just went keeper this year, 6 allowed for 3 yrs...Trying to build my keeper core w/ 3 SPs and 3 hitters...already have Felix (rd8) and Josh johnson(rd13)...which is the best other keeper SP for a standard 5x5 roto, (can be kept for 3 yrs at that cost):
JA Happ, Jorge de la Rosa, Jeff Niemann, or Wade Davis? WHIR...thanks!

Wade Davis is my choice. By a reasonably wide margin too. Happ way outperformed his underlying numbers, Jorge de la Rosa is a solid strikeout source but has had questionable control throughout his career. My second choice would be Niemann, but I just don't think he can post the k-rate Davis can. Niemann is pretty solid though, and it seems to be forgotten by many that he was considered a pretty serious work horse prospect when the Rays drafted him out of Rice.

I agree that it's between Wade Davis and Jeff Niemann. I think Niemann will be better next year, but I expect Davis to surpass him before too long. I'd probably go with Davis here because I don't think the difference next year will be great enough to warrant passing up on higher upside.

I agree with the other guys and think Wade Davis is your guy. He has the most potential and highest ceiling.
