Alfonso Soriano Vlad Guerrrero Nolan Reimold Delmon Young
Alex Rios
I tiered them out a little. The Soriano/Guerrero/Reimold/Young group is incredibly close in my mind. Do you take one of the proven vets that had an off year last year, or Reimold the promising youngster that people are high on, or Young who is still younger than Reimold by a couple of years, was formerly a top prospect, and put up almost similar numbers to Reimold last year?
Just something to keep in mind about Guerrero, he only played 2 games in the outfield last year, so he may be losing eligibility depending on your league rules.
Ryan Braun - Best OF in the game Justin Upton - Will be a first round pick by 2011 Josh Hamilton - Still has massive potential and first round talent Vlad Guerrrero - If he still gets OF eligibility, he can still hit. Power has dropped off though. Alfonso Soriano - The glory days are gone. Those knees are destroyed and most importantly, people are saying that his batspeed is noticeably gone. And for a guy that swings at so many bad pitches, a dropoff in bat speed isn't good. Alex Rios - I still like the guy. I think people expect .300/30/30 from him but he can still put up a quiet .280/20/20. In real baseball he's over paid though haha. Nolan Reimold Delmon Young
Alex Rios Nolan Reimold Vlad Guerrrero Delmon Young
Vlad seems to be getting really bad really fast. Middling power w/ NO speed. Rios was bad but is playing in a hitters park plus has 20+SB. Delmon was a TOP prospect, he could just be a flop but he'll have a chance to play everyday now.
1 - Ryan Braun EASY! 2 - Justin Upton LOVE THIS GUY! 3 - Josh Hamilton UGH...CROSS YOUR FINGERS 4 - Nolan Reimold NICE UPSIDE 5 - Alfonso Soriano BOO 6 - Vlad Guerrero HISS 7 - Alex Rios BOO HISS 8 - Delmon young WHY IS HE EVEN ON THIS LIST??
BTW, I wouldn't touch 5-8 with a 10-foot pole. I've been burned by each of those guys and I think they are done done done.
Braun and Upton are easily head of the class. I still like Hamilton and if his offseason conditioning pays off, he'll prove to be healthier than last season.
The rest is a real mixed bag. I think Soriano will bounce back from last season, but don't expect him to return to the elite category either (25/15 is his upside, 30 HR maybe if his bat speed recovers some). I'm not sure what to make of Rios, given that while he was lackluster in Chicago, it's still a relatively small sample. Whatever the case, he's going to have to make quite an impression on Ozzie Guillen to get more PT. Vlad will need to be a DH elsewhere to have a full-time gig or something close to that. Reimold is the raw product of the bunch while Delmon could be stuck in perpetual post-hype sleeper mode.
seems an odd question to me, which 6 OF would you keep; who keeps 6 OF? Must you keep 6? I'd have to think you have better choices at other positions ahead of alot of these. If this is a long term keeper Reimold could move to #4 on this list even tho Soriano will be drafted much ahead of him . Rios still must have some talent somewhere yet, but where he's been keeping it is a mystery. Like everyone else, I'm avoiding him but if you must keep 6 I suppose he'd have to be there
