Should I even consider trading Timmy?(WHIR)

Postby kidsilk » Wed Dec 09, 2009 7:30 pm

12 team dynasty league where we each took over the rosters and contracts of a National League Team and an American League team, made some cuts, trades, etc. It is a standard 5x5 roto style league with 40 man rosters. I have the Giants and Twins. A guy in my league who has the Reds and Red Sox wants Tim Lincecum bad. I told him it would take a ton to get the best pitcher in baseball. But, looking at my team and his do you see anything that would be worth me trading Timmy? Or should I just stick with him through thick and thin?

Thanks for the help with mine

I don't see a worthwhile trade. Your SP just isn't deep enough to part with Lincicum.

Of course, if he is willing to overpay, you might have to think about it. First of all, if his offer doesn't include Youklis, reject it immediately. And then he better also throw at least one more legit player....like a Beckett, Lester or Sandoval. And then I'd also want to cherry-pick a guy or two from his farm system.

In other words...if he offers: Youklis, Beckett and a prospect of your choice, you might have to take it. If he offered something like Youklis, Sandoval a closer and a prospect, you probably need to consider it....but it's not a no-brainer.

In other words, Lincicum isn't a guy you trade away for fair value. You gotta make the guy OVERPAY before you part with him.

I would make him overpay if I was to deal Lincecum. Your staff would miss him big time.

Something on the lines of Lester, Papelbon, Adrian Gonzalez.

Unless he seriously overpays, I don't think your staff can take the hit.
