BJ Upton or Andrew McCutchen? WHIR

BJ Upton or Andrew McCutchen? Last year I would have easily picked Upton, but he was so bad last year I dont know anymore. It's a 5x5 roto league. Standard stats.

I'm leaning McCutchen. Better BB and K rates in spite of being a rookie. He popped more HR's last year in considerably fewer AB's (though I do believe Upton's HR ceiling is higher, at least in the short term). I'd expect McCutchen to post a batting average considerably higher then Upton. I'd also expect McCutchen to score more runs, though it'll be interesting to see where each team slots these guys. I'd imagine McCutchen will leadoff, but Upton could be slotted anywhere IMO. I feel like McCutchen is a "safer," bet so to speak, and think he has a reasonably high ceiling in his own right. I wouldn't fault anyone for picking B.J. though as his ceiling, partly based on skill, partly based on lineup, is still higher then McCutchen.

I agree with the above. I would probably take McCutchen. There is something in me that expects BJ to just explode one of these years. I am not sure when and I am not sure if he will sustain it but I believe there will be a year where he just tears it up. I hope it is sooner than later. Saying that McCutchen had a good year last year and I think he will build on it.
