Dynasty Trade Offer

Postby curl » Fri Dec 04, 2009 7:36 pm

Hey,

I'm in the first off-season of a deep dynasty league (20 teams, 25 keepers). It's head to head and 6x6 with holds and OPS being the two extra categories.

I would be receiving Jon Lester and Denard Span for Jair Jurrjens and B.J. Upton.

Obviously, my concerns relate to long-term potentials here. Mainly, I'm not sure Span hasn't already hit his ceiling, I'm not sure Jurrjens is any more than an above average pitcher who had a lucky season, and I have no idea whether Upton will ever put it all together. Lester, on the other hand, appears to be a top end SP for the immediate future.

Another point of concern would be that the proposing team happens to be the team that beat me in the championship game this season. So this isn't exactly a trade I can afford to be wrong about.

My 25 expected keepers at this point:

C: Joe Mauer
1B: Chris Davis
2B: Ian Kinsler
3B: Pablo Sandoval
SS: Yunel Escobar
OF: B.J. Upton, Nelson Cruz, Matt LaPorta
SP: John Danks, Jair Jurrjens, Jeff Niemann, Ricky Nolasco, Kevin Correia, Jeremy Guthrie, Jeremy Bonderman
RP: Jose Valverde, David Aardsma, Angel Guzman, Darren O'Day

Bench: Michael Brantley, Brandon Wood, Dayan Viciedo, Yadier Molina, Lars Anderson, Conor Jackson

And I'd be cutting: Nick Johnson, Ben Francisco, Nate Schierholtz, Adam Everett, Freddy Garcia, Bryan Augenstein

(All subject to change depending on their situations closer to the deadline).

So, any thoughts?

I think this one's pretty easy:

You have 20 teams in a non-established dynasty league. Make the move that gives you the best chance to win now, because most leagues like this fold in 2-3 years.

I take the deal post haste. ;-D

I think I like this for you. Lester is an ace and Span will continue to get better. I agree that Jurgens might have hit his ceiling and Upton just can't seem to put it all together. I would pull the trigger and like the other guy said win now!
