A-Rod for J. Upton+... Tulo+...

Postby ander474 » Thu Dec 03, 2009 1:23 pm

I'm in a 20-team dynasty 5x5 h2h league. The keeper rules are that I must keep 10 players with at least 6 of those players being on my MLB team, which is the Twins. My roster includes the following players:

C - Joe Mauer
1B - Justin Morneau
2B - Kaz Matsui
3B - A-Rod
SS - Alex Gonzalez
IF - Ryan Zimmerman
OF - Cody Ross
OF - Adam Jones
OF - Will Venable
OF - Mitch Maier
UTIL - Adam LaRoche
B - Xavier Nady
B - Mark Kotsay
B - Brett Wallace

P - Francisco Liriano
P - Neftali Feliz
SP - Ryan Rowland-Smith
SP - Kevin Correia
SP - Kevin Slowey
SP - Ben Sheets
RP - Joe Nathan
RP - Rafael Soriano
RP - Matt Guerrier
B - Brian Tallet
B - Billy Buckner

Currently, I will be keeping Mauer, Morneau, Nathan, Liriano, Slowey, and Guerrier as my Twins. I have A-Rod, Zimmerman, Adam Jones, and maybe Neftali Feliz as my other keepers. The last one is a bit of a wild card... The Brewers offered me Gordon Beckham and JJ Hardy for A-Rod, which I think is a bit of a joke. They do, however, have a number of non-Brewer keepers, including the aforementioned Gordon Beckham, Troy Tulowitzki, Justin Upton, Brett Anderson, David Price, Gavin Floyd, and Clay Buchholz. Hardy seems like a bit of a toss-in really, but I'd definitely rather have him than Guerrier. What can I do to make my team better? I expect A-Rod to be a stud next year. Is A-Rod, Feliz <=> Tulo, Upton, and Hardy out of the question? Any other ideas?

I thought JJ Hardy WAS a Twin. Adam LaRoche certainly could be kept in a 20 teamer.Judging by the initial offer I doubt if you get Tulo or Upton, but Beckam & either wouldn't be bad.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, Hardy is a Twin now, so if he gets himself together he would definitely be useful to me. As the Brewers surely have 4 better non-Brewer keepers than Hardy, I expect him to be available in the draft if I want to pursue him then. So, I feel that in this scenario Hardy has pretty negligible value. If I sent A-Rod for Tulo (or J. Upton) and Beckham, I would not be able to keep LaRoche. Essentially the trade becomes A-Rod and LaRoche for Tulo and Beckham. To me that seems a bit stiff - what do you guys think?
