Why would you trade the best player in the game for two maybes and hope that someone is not kept in the draft? Keep Albert deal him when he gets to 50.

It's really not as simple as that.
You have to calculate Pujuls value and the value of the others guys in the trade.
I.e. I'd calculate Pujols net value based on how much he would go for in this years draft. I'm guessing he'd go in the $50-55 range? Let's call it $53, for a net value of $11.
Sandoval might go for $25-30? for a value of $24
Rasmus might go for $15 for a value for $14
Sandoval and Rasmus together has a value of $28 compared to Pujols $11.
So imo, it really comes down to how good your current keeper list is but I personally love Sandoval (at a more scarce position) and Rasmus should improve so it's not clear-cut for me.

I am curious to know what your roster looks like, but regardless, I'd pass. Sandoval and Rasmus may be super values given their auction prices, but Pujols is more then worth $42. Combine that with the fact that you will almost certainly find great values this year, as they always crop up year in and year out (Kendry on your roster for instance), it's not worth making a value grab now and giving up the best player. Doing a deal like this almost inevitably will leave you scrambling to determine next year who to keep, and hurting your roster overall long term. Even in the short term, as others have stated, the excess money you end up with will likely end up having a deflated value as the top talent will almost certainly be auctioned up to unreasonable prices, thus poor values.

My Keepers would be : McCann - 17, Fielder, -31, Kendry Morales -1, Lincecum -29, Raul Ibanez -3, Jurrjens -1, and if I traded Pujouls then the last two would be Rasmus -1 and Sandoval -3. If I keep Pujouls then Pujouls -42, and Sabathia - 31 and I would make a run for it again.
Finished second last year with that core.

Thanks for all the responses guys

I'd definitely try and make a run this year. I'm also curious, who are your last cuts? I really don't like C.C. for $31. I'd do everything in my power to deal him in a contract friendly deal if possible, even while taking a substantial whooping in the talent department if need be. I believe allocating Sabathia's $31 elsewhere, say on a number 3 starter and a few cheap flyers would be the route to go. That way next year you aren't looking to deal Pujols for cap room. That's just my two cents though. If you could post your other near misses I'd love to discuss further, or feel free to PM me. I've never competed in an auction league, but I love analyzing the trade proposals cap figures... so I suppose take that with a grain of salt as well.

CC would be my last keeper. Trying to let him go for some prospects right now. If I could get rid of CC I might take keep Jordon Zimmerman at $6 as a flyer.
