Give 6 of my 10 keepers are: Pujols, M.Cabrera, M.Holliday, J.Santana, Kershaw, F.Rod
Pick 4 of the following (bold are the ones I'm leaning towards): Martin Polanco F.Lopez G.Beckham A.Cabrera Ethier Pence Montero K.Morales Joba De La Rosa J.Shields Cook Arroyo F.Francisco Span Scutaro
I like who you picked. A lot depends on size of league and if you know what kind of SP will be left. I think I might take Shields over Pence but I could see it the other way as well.
"In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move."- Douglas Adams
I would also go with Ethier, Pence, Morales and Beckham...if Martin had a better '09 (like his '08 season) I would keep him over Beckham, but he was horrid last year.
12 team weekly points H2H league, and considering roughly 50 pitchers will be kept is the reason I went with Shields over Pence. Plus there is a chance I draft Ichiro, Manny, Granderson or Ca.Lee with my 1.12 or 2.1 pick. If I keep Morales without trading Pujols or Cabrera, he gets slotted into one of my 2 DH spots; and with Holliday, Ethier and Pence if I draft any of those available OFers they'd fill my 2nd DH spot by the second round; which wouldn't allow for much flexibility in the draft.
I have picks #12 and 13 in our draft. Here are the players available (in order by points as projected by CBS Sports): Lincecum, Tim Hernandez, Felix Halladay, Roy Nathan, Joe Rivera, Mariano Vazquez, Javier Gonzalez, Adrian Weaver, Jered Papelbon, Jonathan Lee, Carlos Lackey, John Granderson, Curtis (end of first round) ---- Pence, Hunter Ramirez, Manny Suzuki, Ichiro McCann, Brian Harang, Aaron Crawford, Carl
I'm thinking of putting a package together for the guy who owns best lottery chance (last place last year) at the number 1 pick. I figure even if the odds are against him and he gets the #3 pick; that would still be a great fantasy ace.
What kind of package do you think it would take?
His team: Has to keep: Tulo, McLouth, Magglio, Grienke, Cliff Lee Will pick 5 of: Slowey, Buchholz, NR.Cruz, Bourn, Coghlan, McGehee, Happ, Branyan, Guzman, N.Johnson, Reimold, Frasor, Hammel, Snider, Scott
I was thinking of offering him Martin + Joba + Pence + Morales for his 1st Round. Which means we are back to my list for the next best player to act as my 10th keeper.
Reasons I think this is a good move for him: Martin - will likely produce as much as Magglio next year, and could replace Magglio's spot as a keeper (under a current contract) Joba - He likes young arms (see Buchholz and Happ - both of which I think he gives a contract to) - this could allow him to drop McLouth if he wanted but wouldn't have to Pence - Solid OF option considering his other options Morales - Would probably get his 4 year contract and the key to this deal.
I'm not expecting him to agree to that, because that's really not a whole lot to pay for a chance at Lincecum. But I figured it might get the ball rolling. And if we could eliminate Morales and do the deal for his 2nd Round pick, it would be great for me as well. My other option would be to offer M.Cabrera but I'd rather see if hes traded before I offer him up. 2 years of M.Cabrera for a chance at 3-5 years of Lincecum, Felix or Halladay considering I'd already have 2 years of Pujols and 3 years of Morales.
always hard to say what another owner "would need" but I think its going to take alot more than that to get the deal done. It might make sense from where you are sitting, but for an owner looking forward to that draft pick, I think you are going to need alot more shiney pieces to get it done. It is always tough for an owner to give up 4 of "his guys" whom he is probably higher on than he should be, for 4 of someone else's. also would have been good to know this was a cbs points league where pitchers have alot more value than anywhere else. Can Crawford really get drafted after all those guys?
