More than happy to let you drop $70 on two guys in the first week
Oh I'd've been happy to land both big guys for those prices, even if it is a lot to spend early. I've already lost the Howard bid though. $38 is a fair price for ARod that I'd be okay with getting, but it won't last. I bet he goes for $41 or so, depending on fans in this league. Then again, a couple years back I got him for $38, so it happens I suppose.
Well, if you figure you can lock in a .280 AVG/200R/90HR/240RBI/25SB, that's not a bad price to pay
Wow on Mauer at $30...hope his power doesn't suffer from Target Field like Wright's did at Citifield for that price...

yeah, I don't think i'm going to persue Mauer for that much. Plenty of other catchers who'll do a decent job of holding the fort, for much cheaper.

He seems to be going in the late first, very early second round in snake drafts, so $30 seems about fair if you ask me.
Not to be a kill-joy or anything, but most online auctions I've done don't allow talking about players who haven't been won yet. It doesn't matter to me, but I'm just sayin. If it's cool to talk about players in this league then that's cool with me. I just don't want someone to get all bent out of shape about anything, however I am a new guy here so just tell me to shut it if I'm out of line.
This came up last year, and my position is... talk away. If you're influenced by talk, then that's your problem. Man up and bid what you think you should bid. If you're weak enough to be influenced by someone else's chatter then your only at a disadvantage because of your own weaknesses.
With live rotisserie auctions, you better believe there's chatter and gamesmanship during the bidding, based on my experience from 84-95 in my first roto league.
Anyway, that's my opinion, but Boomer is the commish.

I agree, I play in a live in person auction league and it is nothing but chatter, however whenever I've done an auction here at the cafe, we've never talked so I was just asking for clarifications before someone really gets hacked off about it.
I don't talk about players that are not nominate *yet*, but if someone's on the block and there's bidding going on, I often talk away. They're already out there so at that point the talk is about $.
I totally concur with Bwanna. If you are influenced that much by others talking about a nominated player's bids / etc... then you are decisively in the disadvantage.
I like the chatter, makes me realize you guys actually give a damn.
