25* with a foot of snow at my place this morning, but 20 minutes of driving and was sunny and 70* at the bottom of the mountain, so yes golf. Just love Southern Cal.

-10C and snow and ice here. I'll be firing up the fireplace tonight for Survivor and the Office. So what did you guys think about the big trade? Ayebatter must have liked it i.e. no Red Sox or Yankees involved. Consensus seems to be that Toronto really blew it by not offloading Halladay back in the summer when they had more leverage. Others seemed to think Seattle did OK - a fairly cheap Cliff Lee for one year and after that at the very least two compensatory draft picks. Halladay's new contract puts the Phillies in the top 5 for payroll now.
“We're looking for a really solid year out of Esteban. It doesn't have to be his best year as long as it's not his worst. Somewhere in the middle, we'll be happy.” (Billy Beane)
With the sorry shape of Dodger ownership right now, I'm not happy about any trade that goes down, including Pierre to CHW, although he deserved a place to play full time, and he was being paid too much to sit. As to the philly/Seattle/Toronto trade, I think all 3 teams did well, and yes they should have moved Halladay last year.

I thought you were only looking for good deals this round?
