I had a thought today on how we should go about, during the season, that we use this forum to do trades.
And I think we could use the 'auction' style posting which can give everyone a 3 day window to review the trade, post concerns and contribute any 'Nays' for a veto. The good thing that we are all here means our communication is much better than how Y! administers it. It opens the door for us to do more within a season than we ever could.

HOW IT WILL WORK:
Reminder - This is only a proposal, I am officially looking to see if this might benefit our league this year. Keeping this good communication going throughout the season (without the restrictions of the Y! message boards/trading block etc..).


Trading Block Thread (pre-season/season)
If we put forth a stickied thread here where managers can post a very comprehensive trading block for their team. Kind of how we have a "Roster" thread.

Working Out Deals
We would basically talk to each other privately (PM/Email) through the cafe, working on trades, and once we come to a consensus we would post the trade in the message board here (and also as a normal trade on Y!). The format below will explain how easy it would work, initially.

Discussion & Vetoing a Trade
We can then have the commissioner (Boomer) put a 3 day evaluation period from exactly the post's timestamp.
The post will now become the area from which to discuss the trade, register a "Nay" if you want to veto the trade. If 7 managers vote "Nay" the trade is Vetoed (over 50% of 12 team league)**.
Commissioner Edit: Boomer would have to manually switch the players around OR we insist on making sure the players in the deal initiate a Y! version of their trade (if there is only two managers in the deal), and have trades be initiated by the commissioner once it passes the evaluation period.

Personally, I don't have any issues with the way in-season trades work right now. If everyone's email is accurate and trading block information is kept up to date (or just post a message if you want to try to move someone), then it works for me. I'm more apt to check the Yahoo league daily rather than come on the cafe daily.

Personally, I don't have any issues with the way in-season trades work right now. If everyone's email is accurate and trading block information is kept up to date (or just post a message if you want to try to move someone), then it works for me. I'm more apt to check the Yahoo league daily rather than come on the cafe daily.

Personally, I'm against league-wide voting on trades. I'm in another league now in which trades are voted on because it was grandfathered in, but I'm still against it.

A good commissioner or team of commishes can handle any crazy deals, but with a good group of owners the chance of having a problem are slim to none in my 25+ years of experience.
