Question. Can owners discuss among themselves anything concerning bidding on a player or would that be considered collusion? Are there any parameters as far as what is considered acceptable and what isn't?

In my judgement, it's more than okay in public (league chatter) to openly discuss how bidding is going, who's bidding on whom for what money, etc.

If you're talking about privately messaging each other in a "Psst, if you bid a dollar more on this guy so this other owner can't afford him, I won't bid such an amount on this other guy...." ... I'd say that's collusion or collusion-like.

I would say that since this is your league, I would be comfortable with whatever you decide.

I think there are a few areas:

#1: Worry about our own teams, while keeping an eye on other teams (of course)
#2: There is some gamesmanship involved that is acceptable, so long as its based on your own inaction/action. Here's an example. You kind of want to bid on a player, but you yourself notice that another owner has $5 left and has had to nominate a player for $1. You yourself decide that you won't bid on the player, hoping that the owner is stuck with the $1 and not able to spend remaining roster money.

That said...
#3: Same example, but this time it's not acceptable. A player has $5 left, has nominated a player for $1. You notify 4 other owners that they should not bid on the player as well, so it is now an organized movement against a player, even though none of the other teams directly benefit from the inaction. They're simply screwing the other owner. (I'd call it collusion).

As long as you are talking about bidding up John's players, I'm all for it.

Of course a $2 bid could be just out of my reach right now.

I think this gets asked every year so here goes....by rule do we need to have all starting slot filled at the end of the draft?
