Only about 600,000 people. And a really big city only 90 minutes away. Not much of a downtown. All the action takes place in the various neighborhoods.
Spent 4 days in Chicago first, then made the quick drive up to catch another ballgame. I was amazed at the number of people in the parking lot before the game, and even right up until game time just grilling or drinking. Wish we had more like that here in Toronto for games. Nothing happens.
When they built Miller Park, the first thought was to put it downtown. That idea died quickly when people realized they couldn't tailgate if it was downtown. There are actually people who tailgate and don't have game tickets. They watch or listen to the game in the parking lot.
