I still wouldn't want to make this deal. Like I said, I'd love to see what he could do in a hitters park, but Beckham could easily be an MVP candidate in 2 years. He can really hit. We need this type of franchise player right now.
Anyway we get Adrian without Beckham, I'd be more than happy to make the deal. But until then...we got to stick with Beckham.
Is pushing for President Obama to pass a law requiring all citizens to be Chicago White Sox fans and make October 1st "White Sox Day" where we all dress as our favorite player. It maybe socialist, but I don't care.

Without Beckham, I don't see the Sox getting Adrian.
So, lets see, an established 40 HR hitter that's been playing in a pitchers park, just now entering into his prime years, for a second year player who may some day possibly be as good as him.
IMO it depends on if the Sox think they can win now, and you know they do.
that park in Chicago is more of a hitters park for HR yes? could you imagine someone like Gonzalez playing half his games there? 50+ HR power. Adrian Gonzalez is one of the underrated players in baseball because he plays half his games at PETCO. last year for example. home= 12 HR. away= 28 HR. Gonzalez with the White Sox, or almost any team out of SD would be one of the first choices off the board in fantasy baseball.
it would take Beckham plus other top prospect(s) to get Gonzalez.

None of their prospects are nearly the level of Beckham. Beckham is not a proven commodity or a sure thing (though he is a very good young player). If Beckham is not involved, the package the White Sox can put together is no better than package many other interested teams can put together.
"I do not think baseball of today is any better than it was 30 years ago... I still think Radbourne is the greatest of the pitchers." John Sullivan 1914-Old athletes never change.

Ok, let's break down how much of an effect it has on the Sox this season. They get the DH they need, who, let's say comes in and bops 50 bombs. But you lose your starting second baseman who is an above average defender and well above average hitter and replace them with Jason Nix, who is below average in both categories. Beckham could easily hit close to 300 and hit 30+ bombs. Its a little bold, but based on what he did last year and the flashes of brilliance we saw, that is by no means out of reach.
And that's not to mention the cost Adrian would bring, added on to the costs of Rios and Peavy.
All I'm saying is--trade Beckham and, IMO, you're trading a guy who's going to be a staple in the All Star game for the next 10 years. And for what? 2 or 3 years of a great DH?
As an Adrian Gonzalez fantasy owner--id love to see this deal happen. As a White Sox fan--id hate it. If we can find a way to get this beast in Chicago without losing Beckham--id be all for it.

and his salary is 4.5 million this year, and 5.5 next. Nothing any team not named Padres couldn't handle.
I was thinking the same thing. Why would he,all of sudden, be relegated to DH duties? Either way, Beckham isn't going anywhere. Don't get your panties in a bunch Sox fans.

There is not shot Sox do that trade, even if they think they can win now.
