Which 8 ?

Postby Dan Charette » Mon Nov 02, 2009 12:44 pm

Hi all, This league has the following cats. Runs, Rbi's, Hr's , SB's , OPS , AVE, // Wins, Saves , Holds, Walks , K's , ERA , Whip . It's a 12 team league . I can only keep 8 out of the following. The first 8 listed are the players I'm leaning towards so far. We have separate LF,CF,RF as separate positions. We also have INF and 2 utilities.

C. V-Mart
1B Fielder
SS Reyes
3B Wright
LF Crawford
LF Braun
SP J. Santana
SP Carpenter

The others whom I'm still considering are :

SP Josh Johnson
RP Neftali Feliz
Util Vlad Guerrero
2B,SS, CF, RF Ben Zobrist
CF B.J. Upton

I think I've got it right, but I would welcome other opinions. I'll be drafting 9th next spring. Thanks in advance for your answers.

I think it's unanimous Carp's out. Too much risk.

With CF in, I'm also saying BJ stays.

Now, it's VMart v. JJ for me. I keep the catcher. I'd rather find pitchers. With Johan, you've got an ace. Catchers are tough to pay full price on (check my Mauer thread for my waffling over paying for a top one), but having that position filled reliably by a good hitter who also gets time at 1B and DH? Nice.

I might actually wonder about JJ v. Johan. I still lean Johan, but it's close.

You've got some room to play here: Carp & BJ for Sizemore & and pick upgrade? Carp & Zobrist for a stud 2B (Kinsler?). I'd start fishing. Your cuttable talent is very good.

I'd keep these.

I actually like your original picks. Filling the C is a hard position to fill. You already have good power in the OF. You have a better chance of picking up a 3rd OF'er during the season instead of having to cycle through who's hot this week in catching. Having a well balanced team will mean you have to spend less time in the beginning of the season trying to fill holes and can simply trade for power. ;-D
