I'm in a 10-person, points-based keeper league. We field 32-person teams, and keep 22 (dynasty league, no salary cap or cost etc.) Scoring is typical, i.e. for pitching: W=10, L=-5, K=1, BB=-1, R=-1, H=-1, INN=3, and for hitting: HR=3, R=1, H=1, 2B=1, 3B=2, SB=2, CS=-1.
I have most of my keepers figured out, but I'm on the fence for a few. The dotted line below is where I'm thinking of drawing the line, but I'm undecided on whether to keep: Jermaine Dye (is he too old? will he suck next year like he did the second half of this year?) and Aaron Crow (will he live up to the hype? is he too far off from starting?) .... and I'm undecided on whether to drop: Garrett Jones (is he a fluke, or will he keep it up?); Bud Norris (is he legit? will he develop into a solid #2 pitcher?); Jake Arrieta (I was patient this year, but he didn't seem to develop much in AAA); and Jonathan Sanchez (he just hasn't crossed over into consistency, but strong K potential).
Any advice would be much appreciated! I will help in response.
K. Suzuki - C M. Teixeira - 1B D. Uggla - 2B G. Beckham - 3B D. Wright - 3B J. Cantu - 3B T. Tulowitzki - SS J. Ellsbury - OF J. Bruce - OF J. Upton - OF D. Jennings - OF T. Hanson - SP C. I'd call that a shallow league with overly large rosters. so no minor league roster, you just bench minors for years as they mature? You most certainly want G Jones, Rios was a huge disappointment but with 220 keepers he needs to be there, Norris probably too. Having a tough time getting a feel for who you'd want to wait on minors-wise in that setup; how many active starters every week? daily transactions?
It's a daily league (we can add/drop or make roster moves on a daily basis). We start: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CI, OF, OF, OF, OF SP, SP, SP, SP, SP, RP, RP
... the rest on the bench. We can keep anyone regardless of level or league, as long as they are in the CBS system -- so no minor-league difference.
If I should keep Rios, Dye (and maybe Bud Norris), who should NOT make the cut that's already above the line?
I would say no to Crow and Suzuki. Keep Dye and Rios.
Suzuki isn't special... each team in a 10 team league should have no more than 2 catchers on their roster, meaning up to another 10 starting catchers available for you to choose from.
You're not going to find a better C than Suzuki in the draft. He's a must keep.
I like Aaron Crow, but he's not the guy you want in this format. There are a lot of pitching prospects closer to the majors than Crow, and a lot of other prospects with higher upside.

I agree with MrAccoe...i'd drop Crow and Suzuki and keep Rios and Dye. Suzuki is an average catcher and you can get that somewhere in the draft.

I DISagree ... in our points league, Suzuki was #4, don't see that as average ...

21 and 22 ---> Garrett Jones and Bud Norris (play the upside there) Man that is a sick rotation.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
