12 team KEEPER league, 5x5 roto scoring. I finished 3rd last year and feel I've got some good keepers to head my team for next year. We keep 7 plus up to 5 on your minor league bench. My keepers this year are Braun, Kemp, Howard, Morneau, Roberts, Greinke and one of ARAm, Werth, Granderson or Broxton. I have no ML right now on my bench,so I can deal some below the line keepers of mine for minor league help.
Two owners want to deal with me.
1)Team A owner wants Howard or Morneau. Don't feel I should give up Howard, but could possibly let Morneau go. What should I ask for in return? His team:
McCann Votto Cano N. Cruz Verlander Zobrist Ellsbury J. Santana T. Hanson - could put on ML bench to act as 8th keeper
2) Team B owner wants to deal ML for low end keepers. He offered L. Anderson, Frazier and Milledge for B. Roberts. Roberts will be a keeper for me, but I could part with Aram, Werth, Granderson, Rios, S. Drew, Uggla since I can only keep 1. Do I deal one for just minor leaguers or do a bigger deal and try to get a keeper upgrade. His team:
Pujols B. Phillips Escobar Dunn Ethier Guerrero Suzuki Posey - ML L. Anderson - ML Frazier - ML Fowler - ML Jennings - ML LaPorta - ML Milledge - ML
Please give me ideas of what you would offer or not offer.
you do have a nice set of keepers and really don't need to lessen them any by giving away top keepers. Hanson would be nice but Morneau seems too pricey. There isn't that big of a gap from Roberts to who you'd end up keeping, the 2nd deal could be worth pursuing. It isn't real clear how these minors would then be used, after the draft they'd lose their minor status if over their minimum service time? Is there much for you to redraft minors to restock your 5, how big of an upgrade are they over what you would be able to get when its time to redraft ? I really don't see much to go after in "regular" trades unless you can offer a couple guys 4 Pujols but thats not real likely. I could see the Roberts for minors then keeping Granderson or Werth instead as being the way to go so far...
I would pass on deal 1. As far as deal 2, he needs some major league keepers. I might would offer him Roberts for Posey. Possibly even Aram for Jennings.
Guys can remain on our minor league benches when they are brought up throughout the entire season. If an owner chooses not to bring them up, they remain on the ML bench until the start of the next season. Therefore, Milledge will still be counted as a ML until opening day next year. Therefore, they act as an 8th keeper.
What if I dealt Morneau, Roberts, and Granderson for Votto, Cano, Ellsbury and Hanson. Hanson is on the ML bench so he would be kept there on my roster. I figure I lose the best player of the deal in Morneau, get a guy equal to Roberts in Cano, more value in Ellsbury than Granderson and I gain Hanson. Shouldn't lose any power, gain steals, gain runs, equal RBIs.
Keepers before trade would be Braun, Kemp, Morneau, Howard, Roberts, Greinke and Aram.
Keepers after trade would be Braun, Kemp, Votto, Howard, Cano, Ellsbury and Greinke or Aram.
i really don't like any of the deals for you. Getting a ML in deal two could be nice but I don't see any standout guy that I see as being an impact bat for you in the next few years. I think you are giving up too much for no major gain except maybe steals. I would prefer to deal Howard over Morneau but I think I am in the general minority here but Howard is getting older and when those HR's go away so does his value. Just look at Ortiz and you will see what Howard will be sooner than people probably expect. I would see if there is away for you to deal 3 guys and get two guys back. In other words upgrade and not try and get more players. If this owner doesn't have it it then go somewhere else. You have no need for this trade so don't do it just to do it.

Aramis is your last keeper without a doubt. 3b is thinner than some realize. As far as trading.
I might move one of your OF for Hanson, keep him for free, and then keep Broxton or Granderson in their place so essentially Granderson in value comes close to your other OF. Go get the Braves young stud while you can. Do not trade Morneau or Howard for them.
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be!
