Lincecum to be Arbitration elligle

Mark Reynolds just missed the cut.
That's a pretty expensive week for the Giants.

So, yeah, the Giants made a huge mistake.

That line should be in just about any Giants' story, imo.

Meh, I'm sure any team in the league would kill for Lincecum. Giants should be happy to fork out 10 mil for the best pitcher on the planet.

Exactly. I wonder if the Giants will have learned their lesson though with Posey on the way.

the handling of both posey and bumgarner this september leaves me to believe the giants have no clue how the arbitration system works.

Don't worry, they'll probably be free agents at the same time that Zito is :-°

Ouch @ essentially sacrificing over a million dollars a day in a few years to get Lincecum up early in '07.

If you were going to pull that, you could have at least said Zack Greinke. :-)

I doubt he would win 10 million dollars at arbitration; nothing in the recent market for arbitration eligible pitchers indicates that is his price. Look at last year: Jon Lester signed a 5 year $30 million contract. King Felix signed a 1 year $3.8 million contract. Cole Hamels signed a contract giving him: $4.35 million in 2009, $6.65 million in 2010 and $9.5 million in 2011.

Lincecum and agent might say they want Howard money, but Cole Hamels set the record for pitchers and that matters more. Lincecum might break the record but i doubt he doubles it.
"I do not think baseball of today is any better than it was 30 years ago... I still think Radbourne is the greatest of the pitchers." John Sullivan 1914-Old athletes never change.
