Tough last few choices, but Myers has little upside, you can't keep a 35 year old catcher, and Sanchez just isn't an option playing half his games at San Francisco. Hopefully Soriano lands a closer role somewhere if Atlanta doesn't bring him back. Maybe Wells can get off to a good start and you can move him during the 2010 season at some point.

for a 17 team league, its not that 8-o bad of an abandoned roster to work with. Not good, but in a large league most of the teams look a little weak. Does your league use 1 catcher or 2? a middle/corner infield spot? I think LaRoach might qualify in the 9th spot. If you start 2 C's, 1 of the Molina's might work for a trade piece for someone to trade you a younger player if you have 2011 in mind. V Wells has name value if he'd get off to a hot start next year. Depending on your roster requirements I could see your 10th & 11th spots replacing Molina & Myers. I might look to keep guys who would have more possible trade value rather than traditionally "better" players and play '10 strictly as a stepping stone for '11 season. Lind Gonzales Bills will just be maturing into nice players, Rollins can be traded for a younger, lesser player that may pass him by 2011. good luck with your rebuilding effort; its going to take a while the more I look!

I was in the same sort of position as you a couple years back

aging or questionable keepers and some young players...

We wrote off the upcoming year and traded the aging or questionable players for draft picks... we worked a lot of different owners and got the best value we could and then focused hard on the draft, tried to get the most out of it for our settings. We assumed we'd win 5-6 H2H matches and that would be it... but we finished over .500 and nearly made the playoffs, following year (2009) we made it into the playoffs and were probably the 2nd or 3rd best team in the league (16 teams).

The moral of the story... don't just focus on who you can keep... lots of trades. Trade two questionable/aging guys for one good guy and study hard for the draft. Turn arounds of abandoned or just bad teams can happen in flash

I'd look to deal rollins, bedard, wells, madson and see what you can get. I'd probably deal quentin either now if you can find someone willing to pay or the first two weeks of next season if he starts hot... I'm a White Sox fan but you can't trust he'll stay healthy.

If you can't deal or can't find good value keep these ppl and keep looking to deal

rollins, quentin, billingsley, lind, soriano... gonzalez, myers, scott, laroche

I'd be trying to upgrade keepers or accumulate draft picks by moving rollins, quentin, soriano, myers, molina, bedard, madson, sanchez. there are just too many questions with each of those players and you don't want to keep together a core unless you're championship qualitity

I agree with the above. It is way to early to start looking at who to keep. I have taken over a few leagues that have been bad but at least made some moves before the draft to help get the team going in the right direction. I would look to make some deals for very young guys that have a ton of potential. Look for guys like Bruce, Weiters, Brett Anderson, Clayton Kershaw, Matusz, Posey... These are guys that might be had a little cheaper but give you very good value in the long run. You might also be able to get guys like Webb or Josh Hamilton at a very decent price but of course they come with a lot of risk. The only guys I wouldn't trade unless I was blown away with an offer is Gonzalez, Lind and maybe Billingsley.

What is the rest of your team, can you pick up any prospects or deeper sleepers and keep them instead?

That might be your best bet.
