Yahoo drafts. What I've noticed so far.

Postby ironman » Fri Mar 07, 2003 2:41 pm

I've done 5 Yahoo drafts now, I'm starting to notcie trends in who I keep picking up in all of them.

First off almost every team I have has Tim Hudson, Mark Prior, and Josh Beckett. I know Yahoo definitely has these guys underrated but whoever follows their rankings is a dang fool. I don't think I've overrated them but I seem to be able to land them every draft I've done.

Batters I haven't seen as many trends but I have been able to snag Toby Hall a few times fairly late in the draft.

What about the rest of you Yahoo geeks. Have there been any players you've been able to land in every draft you've done?

:-B I'm happy to hear about Beckett. I think he is underrated too. I hope he falls very far in my Auction/Keeper league. I doubt he will. As for Prior, I already have him protected. I believe that the kid will be the second coming of "Nolan"...... w/o the no-no's. That will never happen again. I figure with Prior/Beckett and say ......."Chuck Finley" LMAO (catch my post "Important..Finley") I can just Dominate. I am also curious how far Wolf is falling in the draft. Please Please do tell?

I've had a top 3 pick each time (12 team leagues), and have always gotten Oswalt with my 2nd pick, and Giles 3rd. Lu Go in the 5th. Then I get Burnett in the 8th or 9th round. Haven't taken Prior cuz he never gets back to me in the 4th, and I don't want to use an earlier pick.

Nobody else has wanted Oliver Perez or Alan Embree, so I've gotten them in the late-teen rounds.

I've been in yahoo drafts where no one showed up but me. They let the auto picks draft their teams, BIG MISTAKE. I always find great players still on the free agent list, that's where I do all my sleeper shopping.

yes there are alot of steals to be had in most yahoo drafts i prefer to play in leagues i know are competitive but i do have one public and a winners league and here are the steals i am getting;

wade miller in the 8th
randy wolf in the 10th
veron wells 18th

and another thing is in almost every league you can find jay gibbons really late and on the waiver wire and same with brad penny

8-o

Man, what Yahoo leagues do you guys play in? There are lots of very competitive Yahoo leagues with experienced smart managers. Try one of them for an enjoyable challenge. Why play in a league, for example, where everyone else autodrafts? If they aren't there for the draft, they'll hardly be there daily during the season (with exceptions for unaviodable conflicts).

So no one else live drafts and no one else ever logs in. You win the league without even raising a sweat.... Who ya gonna brag to? Does a tree falling in a forest if no one is there make a sound?
