What are your other options for keepers? Mauer has value as a 2nd rounder, but if you have other guys with more value at their respective slots, then I possibly would throw Mauer back and keep that 2nd round pick.
It depends on what's out there, but Mauer should be 2nd round material next year (at the least), which makes him worth the pick. If you can get a bat of greater value with the, especially one that figures to be more reliable in the power department, then I'd punt Mauer away. Not knowing anything else, Mauer is a no-brainer to be kept.
Sorry I didn't include this info before. Here are the keeper rules: Keep as many players as you like. Each keeper costs a pick 3 rounds earlier than where that player was drafted the previous year. Players drafted in the first 3 rounds cannot be kept.
I drafted Mauer in the 5th last year, so he would be kept in the 2nd this year (pick 14), and I cannot keep him in 2011. Since we can't keep players drafted in the first 3 rounds, nearly all the 1st and 2nd round players should be available next year. So to simplify, what I'm really asking is: For 2010 alone, is Joe Mauer a top-14 pick?
Thanks!
Please help with my keepers:

I'd say no. The guy is amazing but in a redraft I have a hard time imagining that I would select Mauer with the 14th pick.
thats going to be darn close to where he should be taken in those settings; alot would depend on the Kemp kinda players that may or may not be avail depending on when they were drafted in years past. I still have a tough time taking any catcher in the top 15 overall. You'd be getting a very similiar player if you elected to toss him back; couldn't really blame you for retaining him either if he won you a championship this year. close call 4 sure
