Gordon Beckham Position in 2010

Postby Broncos246 » Sat Sep 26, 2009 3:29 pm

Gordon hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire defensively at 3b. Where do you think he will play next year? He played both SS and 2B in the minors, and is a big offensive upgrade over Chris Getz at 2B (opening the door for Dayan Viciedo or Josh Fields at 3b).

Thoughts?

During an interview on MLB Network yesterday, Ozzie Guillen himself stated that Beckham will play 2B in 2010. Right from the horses @ss, I mean mouth :-D

I have Becks at .285-86-20-90-12. Not sure yet where I rank him overall or just among 2Bman. I haven't got that far in my rankings. But I do have proj. for all the 2nd baseman. These obviously are fluid though. Maybe I can get 2B done today and post it.

I have Beckham top 10 2B. Probably 9 ahead of Kendrick and behind Zobrist.

For those of us burning a roster spot on a backup 2B, do we know which date will be the first we can start Beckham at 2B in our Yahoo! leagues?

I can move ahead 5 days, but I don't know whether or Yahoo! will make us wait an extra day or so.

Idk, but looking at the position eligibility thing, todays start will make him 2b eligible. I hope it's an automatic thing.

No...Yahoo's numbers with eligibility means "X number of games REMAINING to gain eligibility"...so Beckham currently lists "9 played, 4 Started", so Beckham needs 9 more games at second OR four games started at second before gaining eligibility.

Assuming he starts the first five games of the year, would we expect to be able to play him at 2B for the 6th Sox game?
