Seriously funny after the 3rd or maybe the 4th or MAYBE even the 5th time you said it. But after about the 20th thread its in it gets a little old and no so funny as the first couple times. Anyways...

I like the idea of shortening the season and lengthening the playoffs also.

First round best of 7, all other rounds best of 9? :-D

I'll be happy as long as that 1st round moves to 7. How long can they let that fiasco go for?

I was going to write something against expanding the playoffs but then I read Gammon's article more closely and it's not a bad idea.

If I understood it right, there will be 2 wild card teams and they would play each other in an extra series to see who would advance to the division series.

So those teams that won their division aren't hurt by this change at all. In fact, the team with the best league record will gain by facing a very weary wild card winner. This system actually diminishes the value of winning the wild card spot.

The downside is that a team like the Red Sox or Yankees might end up a wild card team even though they have the second best record in the league. Forcing them into a 3-game series to get into the division series would be quite unfair.

in all 30 teams making the play offs so they have a chance in the post season?
I heard that one too.

The play offs are just the right length of time. Other sports have play offs that go for either 6 years(and at the end of them you don't care) or not long enough.

Peter Gammons needs to hang them up, go sit on his front porch and yell at the neighborhood kids running on his yard. Expanding the playoffs is the worst idea, they don't need to be as diluted as the basketball playoffs.
