what's your OS? i have the HVR-1600 too and it works perfectly with the media center in Win7. in vista, it didn't really work but windows 7's media center fixed all the tv tuner problems that vista media center had. ATSC works out of the box perfectly without any tinkering, a big problem that vista had.

btw, if you're looking to get cable HD on media center, there really isn't any option other than to get cablecard from your cable service provider (which is a big headache not worth doing). you can get free over-the-air digital HD channels to work and record it but not cable. these are encrypted so that your cable company has to decode with a special hardware like the set top box or cablecard.

Ya, ok, I finally got WMC to work, but like everybody said, I'm only getting basic channels. ESPN, Comedy Central, etc... nothing.

I did a few test by recording a few shows, and then tested them out on my HardDrive/Media Player. Not too impressed w/ the quality. I think I'm just going to go ahead and return the item, and maybe 5 yrs down the road the technology will be there and simplified.
