As always, I'm limited in what I can say or promise. But I can say the following:

- For basketball and hockey this season, we changed the way our playoff tiebreakers work. They now use h2h record during the regular season (i.e. the record of the two teams against each other), followed by playoff seeding. Which still isn't as nice as if it were fully configurable, but seems vastly more fair than the current system.

- When we make a change in any of the full draft and trade games, as long as it makes sense to do so we try to incorporate it into all 4 full games, time allowing. That doesn't always happen; I was bummed that FAAB didn't make the cut for this year's hockey and basketball games, for example. But as a general rule, it usually does. So while I can't promise anything, there is a decent chance that playoff tiebreakers might be at least improved for next season. Did I mention I can't promise anything? :-)

The records of just when the two teams face off or the overall record? Either one is fair, don't need a configurable option, just need something that is logical unlike the ERA tiebreaker.

What hockey and basketball now do is the record when the two teams faced each other as the first tiebreaker (and playoff seeding as the 2nd/final tiebreaker). What you said matches our thoughts; it would be better if it was totally configurable, but we didn't have the time and resources to do that, and the current solution is much better than the old one.

That works out fine. You guys don't need a configurable option, I can't imagine many leagues wanting to change it around because that way makes sense to me, not something arbitrary like deeming one category more important than the others. Like I said, that way is completely fair and hopefully carries over to baseball next year. ;-D

I understand :-) The current way is fair, in that everyone is subject to the same rules and they are published up front so everyone can plan accordingly. But they don't necessarily make much sense, and we aren't especially fond of them either. So hopefully we can do something about it next season. We'll see.
