2010 up and coming players

Postby smurfman111 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 1:40 pm

Hi all,

I am looking for players to start picking up for next year as I am in a 12 team keeper league and just missed the playoffs.

Any bright up and coming stars of the future that should get a shot at making the starting lineup for the start of the 2010 season?

Preferably I could use a SS, OF, and lots of SP with a possible need for a closer for next year also.

any help is appreciated.

thanks

Who is available? How big a league? What kind of keeper league?

A little early to know who might have a chance at a job. So many things to happen like free agency and such. Jason Heyward should get a shot but probably not in April. Actually most of the big names that didn't get called up this year are unlikely at this point to get a starting job out of ST. Teams are more likely to wait two months to keep eligibility an extra year. I used to try and figure things out early but it always seemed to never work out.

I'll piggy back on this and ask about these guys specifically for 2010...

Brandon Allen? (is mentioned in another thread here)

Julio Borbon ?

Eric Young Jr?

I personally like Allen. He is the most sure of a full time job and has the potential to be a top 10 1B. He is striking out a ton right now which is worrisome so there are still questions out there on him.

Eric Young give you steals and that is about it. His 2B eligibility is nice but in most leagues that will go away next year unless he starts actually playing there. Plus there a lot of OFers in Colorado so his playing time is probably going to be limited which is very frustrating as an owner.

I don't know a lot about Borbon. Tex will also have a crowd at OF/DH but right now he is producing so he could find plenty of playing time next season. I think he is playing over his head right now so I expect him to come down a little next year and become more of a platoon player.

Our league is a 12 team H2H with 30 man rosters keeper league where you can keep as many or as few players as you want.

Any pitchers that may have breakout seasons next year?

The Ks frighten me to no end. I'm expecting .250/20 if he gets to play the full year.

Another good SS prospect is Rueben Tejada from the New York Mets organization. Or Jiovanni Mier, Houston

Outfield prospects that might not be taken yet,
Jaff Decker, San Diego
Josh Reddick, Boston
Brett Jackson, Chicago Cubs
Jose Tabata, Pittsburgh
