Which 6 to keep?

Postby DaShiz23 » Tue Sep 15, 2009 11:41 pm

standard 12 team 5X5 Roto keeper.

1B Miguel Cabrera
2B Brian Roberts
SS Jimmy Rollins
OF Ryan Braun
OF Josh Hamilton
OF Adam Dunn
OF Rajai Davis
UTIL Adrian Gonzalez
SP Zach Greinke
SP Cliff Lee
SP Roy Oswalt

I think my biggest concern is over Cliff Lee. I won't go into much detail, so as to not sway opinions, but he is the 'swing' guy for me.
Thanks in advance, and I will do my best to help with any questions you may have.

4 no doubt keepers: Miguel Cabrera, Ryan Braun, Adrian Gonzalez and Zack Greinke.

That leaves two spots. I think Brian Roberts probably should be in the "no doubt" category as well given his unreal consistancy and his position. He's hit for a bit more power this year. He really is a stud at 2B, and it seems like he's kind of overlooked.

Anyways that leaves one spot and I think I'd probably keep Jimmy Rollins which pains me to say. His batting average is abysmal, but he holds a career mark of .274 so he should rebound next year. Given his contact rate I can't help but think his BABIP has to be abnormally low and driving his awful average. All that said, he's hit for power again this year and might reach the 20 HR mark which is great for SS. His speed is still there with 28 SB's to date, and he's still gonna score around a 100 runs come season's end (at 85 coming into tonight). He's got 65 RBI's coming into today which is reasonable given that he's hitting at the top of the order, and with a raise in BA next year like I'd expect his runs and RBI's should go up some. As nice as it would be to keep Lee to go with Greinke, I think I'd go with Rollins and shore up your middle infield, and have a top notch SB guy for that cat. If you don't mind, I could use some help with mine.

Lee wouldn't make your top 8 with those bats you have.

Hey thanks for the help with mine! I would keep:
Cabrera
Braun
Hamilton
Dunn
Greinke
Gonzo

I was thinking about Roberts or Rollins instead of Gonzo but I like Adrian, especially if he gets traded away from PETCO.

I would find it difficult to throw BOTH Rollins and Roberts back, especially with them being middle infielders. Am I wrong to think this way? :-?
