Drop Votto for playoff push?

Postby silverlionlb » Wed Sep 09, 2009 2:12 am

I’m currently in a 10 team H2H 5x5 keeper league (with 2 expansions being added next year) and just on the edge of making the playoffs. I’m tied for 4th and am facing the team I’m tied with this week. Whoever wins will make the playoffs.

My biggest concern at the moment is Votto. I think the question is if he is worth a keeper spot, and, if he isn’t, whether or not I should replace him. Available players at 1B include: Nick Swisher, Adam LaRoche, Carlos Guillen, Michael Cuddyer, and Billy Butler. I guess I could also move Youk to 1st and pick up a 3B if that is more beneficial. Available 3B include: Juan Uribe, Ian Stewart, Melvin Mora, Gordon Beckham, and Ronnie Belliard.

We get to keep 7 total players for next year, and my roster is as follows:

C AJ Pierzynski
1B Joey Votto
2nd Brandon Phillips
3rd Kevin Youkilis
SS Jimmy Rollins
OF Matt Holliday
OF Ryan Braun
OF Andre Ethier
Util Bobby Abreu
BN Shin-Soo Choo

SP Josh Johnson
SP Matt Cain
RP Jonathon Broxton
RP Jose Valverde
P Huston Street
P Mike MacDougal
P Scott Feldman
BN Chad Billingsley
BN Randy Wells
BN John Danks
BN Andy Pettitte

Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :-D

I feel sorry for the expansion teams since basically all 1st round talent will be gone, lol

Well Keeper wise I'd go with
Brandon Phillips a top 3 2B in a shallow position,
Jimmy Rollins, still the 2nd best SS in baseball
Kevin Youkilis, since he will still qualify for 1B/3B
Ryan Braun, 1st round talent
Chad Billingsly, nline to be a top 10 pitcher

and then it's a push for the last 2 spots between
Matt Holliday, not stealing bases in STL and could come back to earth like Manny did this season and hid monster run in LA last season, plus OF is very deep talent wise
Joey Votto, position is 3rd only to SP,OF as a deep talent base
Josh Johnson, incredible WHIP and ERA, but tends to get hurt

help with mine?
