Diaz or Gonzalez? (To replace C. Pena)...WHIR

Postby misterf » Tue Sep 08, 2009 12:11 am

10-team, 5x5 roto league. Keeper (10 players per season)

I just lost Carlos Pena for the rest of the season. I though of holding onto him as a potential keeper, but realized tring to win this season is more important.

I have Berkman, Kendry Morales and Helton, so I'm still ok at 1st base. I'm looking for a guy to fill in at "Utility". So, the question is: who will help me the most during the last month of the season? The two best (or at least hottest) players on the waiver wire right now are:

Matt Diaz, OF
Carlos Gonzalez, OF

I know Gonzalez also steals some bases, but I can't gain or lose any ground in that category, so don't factor that into your assessment.

For the record, some other guys available on the waiver wire are:

Dan Uggla
Denard Span
Adam LaRoche
Ian Stewart
Magglio Ordonez
Rajai Davis (remember, steals don't help me)
Josh Willingham (cold lately)

So, who do you think I should pick up?

Thanks in advance......WHIR

I would go with Carlos Gonzalez at this point. He has been hitting very well, plays in Coors, and has a solid line up around him. My 2nd pick would probably be Uggla since we all know he has power that you are missing from losing Pena but he'll give you a 40-50 point better average to go with his above average power. Thanks for the help with mine.

I'd say Gonzalez like someone said he is Coors, also he was the main piece they wanted for Holliday so he has more of a shot for playing time, Diaz is a 4th outfielder and Atlanta will want to look at some of their young OF studs, the last few wweks since they are out of it.

help with mine?
