So he was recalled to start today against the Tigers and had a damn good showing.

A Debut of:
7IP, 3H, 1BB, 9K and only 1ER (Solo shot given up to Huff in the 2nd inning)

But word is Sonnanstine will start one of the double header games on Monday at the Yankees and they will then decide which pitcher stays in the rotation. So what are the odds with this strong debut performance from Davis today against a contending team that he sticks in the rotation? Madden seems to be really high and excited about this kid and by the showing today I can see why. Think Davis will get the edge based on today's start and the fact that Sonny has not looked so hot this year posting his 6.60 ERA and 1.60 WHIP to date?

I'm looking for another young arm during callups that can help my squad in the playoff run and Davis has looked strong as hell all through the Minors and looked sweet today against a pretty good hitting offense in Detroit.

He is golden for keeper leagues but I read article son this site saying he might be better fit as a closer. By the looks of the current state of the Rays bullpen right now, they may be right.

CBS projects Davis' next start to be on the 14th but they might just be guessing (like they usually do).

Are you sure you aren't thinking of Jacob McGee? McGee is returning from Tommy John surgery and had been about Davis' equal at AA before TJ surgery. He's left handed, and Baseball America as well as threads on here I believe discussed him being a potential future closer, not Davis. Perhaps you read something I missed, just curious.

But his last few outings have been pretty good. I'd think he's shown enough in his 5 starts that Tampa has to seriously start thinking about him being in the major league rotation next year.
