Replacement for Sizemore, A. Jones

Postby wkpdpack » Sat Sep 05, 2009 5:29 pm

Getting down to the wire and trying to hang on. Injuries and expanded roster aren't helping me though. I've got two guys I probably need to replace since they are probably out for the year (and not going to go on the DL) or close to it...Sizemore and Adam Jones. Unfortunately the wire is pretty slim. I'm currently hanging onto 2nd place, but by only 2 pts. Top 4 teams win money. BA - 9th (could easily move up 2 spots), HR - 3rd (1 down from 2nd, 1 ahead of 4th), R - 1st (1 up), RBI - 3rd (14 behind 2nd), SB - 8th (5 behind 2 teams, 5 ahead of 2 teams). These would be the last two free moves I have for the year. Do you think Adam Jones is out for the year as well? Please name the top 5 guys in the order you would pick them up.

Free agents:
Gomes
Pie
Stubbs
McGehee
D. Murphy (NYM)
Ryan Sweeney
DeJesus
R. Roberts
M. Brantley

Current Roster:
C Baker, Fox
1B Votto
2B Kinsler
3B ARod
SS Theriot
MI E. Cabrera
CI G. Jones
OF Ibanez, Sizemore, A. Jones, Markakis, Franceour

i really like one guy out of that list, some may differ but he has looked very good over the past month and is finally getting a chance to play. That play is Ryan Sweeney, batting .316 with 21 R and 12 RBI also throws in a couple SB here and there. This is how id rank them:

Ryan Sweeney - will be given all the ABs that he can handle as the As try to sort through players and find starters for next year.
McGehee - Has been pretty solid, position eligibility ranks him here have 2b/3b elig.
Pie - Has looked very strong since his recall, and now with Jones injury will be given even more leway.
Gomes - Too streaky for me, goes 4-21 then snaps out of it with 3 hits including a dinger the next days, but then slumps back into a 1-9 streak. If you can handle his streakiness this would be the guy to add because when hes on, hes ON.
Stubbs - Hasn't impressed me thus far and haven't really seen too much speed, of which he was raved about before getting his call.
Murphy - Im staying away from all Mets. He hasn't done jack over the last month and has looked like hes now becoming part of that whole Met funk. Stay away.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!
