Replacement for Michael Young, WHIR!

Postby Deesul » Wed Sep 02, 2009 7:53 pm

Alright, so Michael Young will be down for a couple weeks with no trip to the DL and I've just entered the first round of my league's playoffs. I'm going to need to drop someone to make room for a replacement shortstop. So two questions:

#1: Who do I drop?

C: Kurt Suzuki
1B: Albert Pujols
2B: Brandon Phillips
3B: Alex Rodriguez
SS: Michael Young
LF: Manny Ramirez
CF: Shane Victorino
RF: Jayson Werth
UT: David Ortiz
BN: Jacoby Ellsbury

SP: Cole Hamels, Chad Billingsley, Roy Oswalt, Jered Weaver, Ubaldo Jimenez, Randy Wells, Max Scherzer and Barry Zito
RP: David Aardsma, Frank Francisco and Rafael Soriano

#2: Which SS do I pickup? Notable SS on my WW: Yunel Escobar, Felipe Lopez, Eric Aybar, Alex Gonzalez & Maicer Izturis all seem to be having decent months.

Easily Yunel: his clutch bat will be needed. He's solid, not spectacular kind of like Mike Young was. Essentially, your replacing one person with another of the same talent and production. Nuff said.

If you have to drop anyone, I'd go with Barry Zito, least upside.

Yunel got injured again tonight, I would say Lopez

I would drop Wells instead of Zito, Zito has been outpitching him for the last month

Well if your in a points league Eric Aybar is probably your best bet. He's consistantly producing 12-20 pts each week. (based on CBS standard).

Plus, he's hitting well so if your in a cat league he'll at least fill in BA/runs for you kinda like Young would do healthy.

Who else is available.

Felipe Lopez is not having the season I thought he would.

Stephen Drew available?

Even deeper, what about Brandon Wood, he just got called up and has some upside. You have another droppable guy. If this is NOT a keeper ditch Michael Young for Aybar and then dump one of Wells/Zito for Wood.

I'd go with Aybar at this point. He's been pretty consistent and plays in a potent lineup.
