I've been trying to fix my sister's laptop for the past couple of days (its been running real slow). I went to update AVG and it said that it couldn't connect to the update server. I tried all kinds of things and decided to uninstall and then reinstall the program. However, when I go to install it, AVG says that it can't detect a "working internet connection." I have a working internet connection that I can browse the web with. I hooked up the internet wire right from the modem to the laptop to see if the wireless was screwed up and the same thing happened. So I thought maybe AVG was screwed up (although it worked/works fine on my laptop) and I decided to try Avast. The same thing happened, it said that it couldn't find a working internet connection. I've reset all of the internet settings to default and I've turned the firewall off and still nothing. Any thoughts? Its a 3(?) year old Dell Inspiron B130.
