So there is an owner who is dead set on acquiring Drew Stubbs from me. I have informed him that I am looking for starting pitching help, and he has offered five deals involving veterans:

A) Smoltz
B) Pavano
C) Pedro
D) Uehara
E) Sowers

I felt Stubbs warranted my #9 waiver claim and a pickup, as I need some speed on my roster following the release of veteran Randy Winn. I am also going to need to promote Medlen as soon as he pitches another 2/3 of an inning, so I was planning on demoting Stubbs to the farm in Medlen’s place.

So, I realize in a non-keeper that it would be worthwhile to make one of these five trades; however, in a dynasty where longevity and team balance matters, I am not sure if I should make any of these deals.

honestly im not a huge fan of stubbs, but we have only got a sample size thus far from him so i think i would hang onto him unless he put up a guy with a little less age. of those 5 i think the only arm thats really going to be able to potentially help you this year is Pavano anyways, maybe Pedro. Smoltz is remained to be seen how the NL welcomes him today, Uehara even in a 20-teamer isn't a solid option and sowers is really hit or miss. i would stand pat with Stubbs and let this owner know its gonna take someone else, either more reliable or younger. if hes after Stubbs as hard as you say then he will budge before you should. hope it helps!

No reason to trade unless it helps your team and I don't see any of those guys worth it. Either the other owner will offer you something that can help you or keep Stubbs.
