Indians' Wickman Has Sprained Elbow

Associated Press

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Cleveland Indians reliever Bob Wickman will miss the first half of the season because of a sprained right elbow.

The 35-year-old right-hander, who had been expected to be the team's closer, had reconstructive elbow surgery in December 2002 and missed last season.

He will rest the elbow four to weeks, then begin a throwing program lasting another six weeks, Indians trainer Lonnie Soloff said Thursday.

Looks like Wickman is out for a while...I think they will move Riske up to closer and Jose Jimenez behind him.... :-)

he's done for now, Riske is the man, and if he doesn't lose his head, he'll be the man all season.

riske will have the position locked up if he pitches like he did during the second half of last season. Once they see what riske can do, the tribe will never look back.
