Trade deadline is friday at midnight in my 10-team H2H league. I'm currently in a tie with 4 other teams competing for the last playoff spot. We keep five keepers from year to year (no other restrictions). My keepers are: Braun, M.Cab, Howard, Tulowitzki. The 5th is likely to be V-Mart, as I like the distance he creates in separation in the C position. And now, playing for the BoSox...that bodes well for his offensive opportunities.
I have considered trading him to another contender this year who might give me CC Sabathia. As you will see, my line-up desperately needs SP. But I"ve been winning (6 of last 7) lately with 2-3 closers each week and whatever 2-starters I can put together. Looking ahead, to the four upcoming weeks prior to the playoffs, CC doesn't have two starts in any of those weeks (maybe one if life happens the right way).
So, my question is this. I like the possibility of CC as a keeper for next year (considering I don't have any arms as keepers right now), but with V-Mart heating up, he might have more of an impact on my team's chances THIS season -- because he plays and bats everyday, while CC goes once a week.
What are your thoughts? Would you make the trade? My V-Mart for his CC? (WHIR and you'll like it).

I would do this due to the state of your staff and CC is a great keeper as well, especially if you can grab a catcher like Montero from the WW and drop Ian Snell.
Considering that you could probably flip CC for someone next year of equal value at catcher, i don't see anything wrong with this trade. it does give you a great amount of value this late in the year.
In a roto league i wouldn't even touch this trade this late in the ballgame, but this looks good for you, especially since cc will be a 4 catagory contributor in the last few weeks of the season.

I would also take CC. The way the Yankees are going and all those long contracts could make him a fantastic play for years. IMO CC's production is more difficult to replace than Victor's, plus he's a bigger name that could garner bigger trades next year, as was mentioned.
If the offer is still there, I'd go with CC. For this year, your offense is stacked already, literally all studs, you can afford to let VMart go. Your pitching really pales in comparison. I'd think your strategy here is basically to throw out as many arms as possible and take whatever happens with ratios with guys like Snell and Padilla on your roster. CC gives you the reliable ace you desperately need and is a more logical long term keeper. VMart doesn't have that much time left at Catcher.
