Got to agree with the masses: Strasburg, Smoak - Castro from Houston is another option...could get a look with Pudge gone

It has to be between Heyward and Strasburg. Heyward is turning into a monster and should be up soon and as mentioned before, Strasburg has a ton of hype around him so you could always trade him for some proven talent if you don't like him.

Alvarez is good, not Heyward good.
Smoak is good but is faltering in AAA.
Bumgarner is good, not Strasburg good.

#1 pick you have to go with Heyward or Strasburg, no question.

if its a Dynasty why not stash players? i saw you posted saying that Strasburg may not even get a cup of coffee this year, true but in a dynasty league obviously your are just looking for young talent to help your team in the future and just using up the WW priority because you won't get it back correct? well then snatch Strasburg and stash him on your bench, begining next year i see him in the rotation opening day, he has all the tools to be very successful and could potentially help your team more in the long run then taking a player just because they may get a few ABs here and there to end this year. I personally would be able to offer up more help if you posted your roster to see where your weakest points are and then grab a player that could fullfil that need in the future. on pure value tho Strasburg is the way to go IMO.

Great thanks to soto for the sweet sig!...

I'm not concerned at all about playing time this year. What I'm concerned about is the Yahoo player pool. Obviously Strasburg is the #1 choice, but what are the odds he gets added to the Yahoo player pool before the end of the season?

What I'm asking is this: What happens if Madison Bumgarner gets called up in a week - do I hold out and hope that Heyward gets called up when rosters expand in September, or do I pounce?

I think I'm pretty clear on the fact that Strasburg and Heyward are the elite guys, I just don't know when they'll be added to the player pool.

So I guess my expanded question is, out of the players that are likely to actually go on waviers this year (that is, called up or added to the player pool), who is the top guy?

So Posey just got called up. Do people think he's probably the best player that's going to get added to Yahoo this season?

See if he'll clear waivers. Owners might not be paying attention.

Posey is a big threat.

Can you post your roster please. This would be most helpful. If your that worried someone will see it, I don't see the need for secrecy I mean the cat is already out of the bag.

I feel like I'm not really getting my point across. For one thing, our WW priority doesn't transfer season to season, so I have to make use of it THIS season. I'll post my roster, but it's kind of a moot point, because the best option is always going to be grabbing the most value for a dynasty league and then either using him or trading him. None of the big name guys - Stausberg, Heyward, Smoak, Alvarez, Bumgarner, got added to the database, so what I'm doing is looking at the rest of the season and trying to determine if Posey is the best that'll be added to the database. Anyway. My roster. This is a 20 team dynasty H2H league with OPS and Holds as extra categories.

C - Matt Wieters
1B - Mark Reynolds
2B - Ian Kinsler
3B - Chase Headley
SS - J.J. Hardy
OF - Ichiro Suzuki
OF - Justin Upton
OF - Jason Kubel
UTL - Franklin Gutiérrez
BN - Jayson Nix
BN - Nolan Reimold
DL - Fernando Martinez
DL - Conor Jackson

SP - Jake Peavy
SP - Yovani Gallardo
SP - Rick Porcello
SP - Clay Buchholz
SP - Luke Hochevar
SP - Gio González
SP - Aaron Poreda
RP - Joe Nathan
RP - Carlos Mármol
RP - Huston Street
RP - Chris Pérez
RP - Darren O'Day
RP - Scott Elbert

I'm in the same boat, but it's not a dynasty league (14 team, 8 keepers).

Was hoping for Strasberg or Heyward, but SOL on both. I have Wieters, who's not doing much and am thinking about adding Posey.
Haven't decided whether to use my waiver claim or wait and see if he slides through...

I wouldn't keep Posey, but is he going to outperm Wieters the rest of the way. I'm in the lead but it's close.

Pedro Alvarez definitely would help you the most. Your OF and pitching are solid for a 20 teamer.

you have a good 1b (reynolds), top end 2b for dynasty (kinsler).

What SS prospects are available?

Your pitching staff will be scary when all those guys hit the ground running.

You can always find pitching prospects and they are volatile. I would look at acquiring a top bat with your ww priority to fill a need.

Heyward would probably give you the best OF in your league. Be patient with Wieters.

Honestly, it comes down to paying attention and putting claims in when good players get called up.

Are any of these players in your DB: Sean Rodriguez (undervalued), Alcides Escobar (will give you some speed), post fas.

Right, I understand that picking up Heyward, Alvarez, Strausberg or any of the top-tier guys would be the best move, but like I've said, my #1 WW lasts this season only - we reset it year to year based on the previous year's standings. None of these guys are going to be added to the Yahoo player pool this season.

Anyway, Alcides Escobar is in the database but someone has him. In a 20 team dynasty pretty much every team has a few prospects that they sit on.

So, given the fact that none of the elite talents are going to be added this year, it makes sense to pick up Posey and then trade him or Wieters for a SS or 3B next season. Right?
