Keeper League: Berkman/Kuroda/15 for Tommy Hanson/10

Postby spamnon » Sat Aug 15, 2009 12:20 am

Currently in 3rd place (1 pt from 2nd, 10 from 1st) with my offense really slumping (lack of HRs, AVG, OBP) so I am looking for a big bat. I have been offered berkman, kuroda (to offset the loss of hanson), and his 15th round pick in 2010 for my hanson (23rd round keeper value for two years) and my 10th round pick in 2010. I don't mind losing hanson because I can keep pitchers like scherzer/feliz/carpenter, but if I make this trade who do I sit in favor of Berkman? Huff or Willingham? Is it still worth making the trade if one of those guys has to sit and I downgrade (10 --> 15) a draft pick next year?

I would do the deal. I love Hanson and, like you, own him in a keeper league. If you were able to keep him for longer than 2 years then i would tell you to keep Hanson. But you seem to have really good starting pitching and can stand to lose him.

And you should sit Huff, he is very overrated

I dont think gaining Berkman is going to help you OBP. He hasn't been himself all year and to only give up a 23rd pick for 2 years to retain Hanson is enough for me to say NO.
