I GET: Matt Holliday, Michael Young, Adam Wainwright, and Jonathan Papelbon

(i'll throw in Masterson to keep him away from teams playoff bound)

My projected 6 keepers right now: Pujols, Utley, A-Rod, Longoria, Sabathia, Halladay

So if I do this, I keep Matt Holliday instead of Longoria. Bolster my rotation and pen for this year.

only thing is that I can keep Longoria for 2 more years, whereas the other guys I can keep for one more year. But make the play for this year?

For this year I like it for you. Holliday gives you the same if not better numbers for the remainder of this year. Plus, depending on where he signs, he could rake next year. I'd say go for it. We play to win. Especially if this deal puts your competitors in a worse position. Good luck.

Win this year, that should be your motto (especially if you're close). That being said, I like the deal for you. With Arod at 3b already you can afford to deal Longo and pick up a blazing hot Holliday.
