J.Bay for J.Broxton? (WHIR)

Postby Tom Emanski AllStars » Thu Aug 13, 2009 11:29 am

give: J.Broxton
get: J.Bay

Weakest areas RBI & WHIP...with saves running a distant 2nd

available saves on the WW: Frasor, Nunez, Lindstrom

with Broxton's bump toe, i'm leaning toward making this deal! thoughts?

I know Upton is a ? on coming back, but I do not think I pull the trigger on this. I think you would be buying Bay at a low point and IMO that does not deserve Broxton.

I would drop Nolasco and pick-up one of the WW closers that gets consistent saves. Then you may be able to work out a 2 for 2 trade for one of your 4 (and 1/2 if you include Howell) closers for a starter or weaker closer and an outfielder. You do have Kinsler coming back tomorrow, so you got Uggla going back to the bench for some depth.

I value hitters > pitchers which means if it was me I take this deal all day. I also would drop someone for Nunez if you feel you still need saves. Good luck. ;-D

The problem with that theory, is when Bay starts to get hot. (which he already has) You'll have to give quite a bit more then Broxton to land Bay.

Give me the All-Star bat over a closer any day. Bay will help in pretty much all hitting cats where as Broxton's main goal is to get saves, one category. Only issue is your crowded OF, but then you could deal someone else if you wanted.

I agree, take the stud bat for the rest of the season. He can help you across the board.

No question -- he will help you in more areas than you take the hit in. Do it and quick before he sees Bay is hot again.
